Dave Wesner

An Albuquerque native, David M. Wesner received his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico School of Law with Thesis Honors (2002) and a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico School of Communication and Journalism, with a focus on intercultural communication (1995). For over two decades, Dave has practiced before New Mexico state and federal trial courts, appellate courts, and administrative agencies, and in arbitration, pre-litigation, and on appellate-court staff.

Before joining NM Local Government Law, LLC in January 2024, Dave worked for over 12 years at a longstanding Albuquerque civil defense firm, defending a diverse array of public and private clients in civil litigation, administrative proceedings, appeals, and in rendering insurance-coverage opinions. In 2011-12, Dave worked for a year as a Staff Attorney for the New Mexico Court of Appeals, where he drafted judicial opinions, advised appellate judges and proposed dispositions of appeals in a wide variety of civil, criminal, administrative, and other areas appealable to the intermediate appellate court. His practice in civil litigation, administrative proceedings, and appeals has focused on areas including construction defect, professional liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, civil rights, employment, and contracts.

Dave brings to NMLGL's litigation team a wealth of civil litigation experience and appellate practice in trial courts all over New Mexico, in the New Mexico Court of Appeals, the New Mexico Supreme Court, and the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
