Patrick F. Trujillo

Patrick Trujillo is knowledgeable in government law through his experience as an attorney for New Mexico Association of Counties; County Attorney for Sandoval County; as well as Deputy County Attorney and Assistant County Attorney for Bernalillo County. Through these positions, Mr. Trujillo has negotiated leases and purchase agreements; worked with many non-profits to facilitate grant funding; attended pre-disciplinary hearings and drafted letters of intent to discipline in employment cases; provided County Clerk representation in elections cases; County Assessor representation in valuation protest board hearings and drafted legislation for consideration by the New Mexico Legislature. He also provided representation to County Board of County Commissioners; County Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment in all administrative and judicial matters concerning land use, economic development and grant drafting and oversight; attended all County Commission meetings and advised the Commission in session; and frequently served as acting County Attorney at Zoning Meetings. Mr. Trujillo has created and revised ordinance amendments in coordination with staff and the community and prosecuted the enforcement of local ordinances. In addition, Mr. Trujillo defended New Mexico Counties in state and federal courts in a wide array of cases from alleged IPRA violations to wrongful death cases and conducted state-wide trainings on the Inspection of Public Records Act and Open Meetings Act. Mr. Trujillo has also worked with local tribes and the United States Department of Justice to end 25 years of Federal oversight of Sandoval County elections by ensuring that Non-English speaking Native Americans in Sandoval County had the opportunity to cast their votes.
