Public-Employment Law at NMLGL

NM Local Government Law, LLC assists local governments and the State of New Mexico with a broad range of public-employment issues. Our employment-law team creates human-resource policies for governments, drafts ordinances and regulations, and keeps up-to-date on regulatory changes at the federal and state levels. We handle employee-conduct matters from policy guidance and implementing discipline to defending public employers in administrative appeals and courts. We regularly advise our governmental clients on day-to-day employment issues, and on equal employment opportunity complaints involving workplace harassment and discrimination. We defend all types of employment actions including whistleblower claims, civil-rights litigation and claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act. We advise on Family Medical Leave issues and complaints under the Americans with Disabilities Act. We also advise on labor-law issues and handle claims under the New Mexico Public Employee Bargaining Act.
